I trained with the EMDR Masterclass, recognised training by the EMDR Institute in the UK and Ireland. I am a member of the EMDR Association UK.
BACP Accredited Counsellor
I have been working as a BACP counsellor since 2003. I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from Sussex University. I have BSc in Experimental Psychology from Sussex University, 1989. I have worked in the NHS, charities and private practice. I have worked with hundreds of frontline workers over the years. I qualified as a counsellor supervisor in 2015. I supervise counsellors in private practice and at CGL, a health and social care charity.
Remote therapy experience
I have been working with clients effectively on line since 2019 when covid restrictions meant therapy sessions could no longer be face to face
Safety, confidentiality, support
As a BACP accreditted counsellor I follow strict ethical guidelines. I have monthly supervision from an EMDR consultant and a counselling supervisor. I am a member of the EMDR Association UK. BACP registered member 019801.
Other experience and skills
I have specialist experience in substance misuse. I have a diploma in Professional Studies in Substance Misuse Intervention Strategies (2005, Brighton University) and a website giveupdrinking.co.uk gives tips and support for people wanting to cut out or cut down on alcohol. Counselling and EMDR can help with other issues including bereavement, self esteem issues, anxiety and depression, complex PTSD/ childhood trauma and relationship issues.
